The world’s largest permanent exhibition of African American history and culture was the vision of Dr. Charles H. Wright, who founded the International Afro-American Museum in 1965. In 1985, ground was broken on Warren Avenue and renamed Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, in honor of its founder.
